Lip filler in Dubai: why most WhatsApp enquiries never become bookings
TL;DR
Dubai lip filler enquiries fail to convert for three reasons: the 'how much per ml?' message is answered hours later, the client has written to four other clinics in the meantime, and nothing in the chat commits her to a slot. Clinics that reply in seconds in her language, quote the real per-ml price, offer a real slot with a licensed doctor and take a deposit inside WhatsApp keep the booking. Clinical questions still go to a human.
'How much for 1 ml?' sent to five clinics at once
It is Thursday, 21:50. A 29-year-old who works in Media City has a wedding in two weeks. She has saved six Instagram posts from clinics in Jumeirah, Al Wasl and Downtown. She opens WhatsApp and sends the same message to five of them: how much is 1 ml of lip filler, which brand do you use, and do you have anything on Saturday?
One clinic answers at 21:51 with the price per ml, the brand, the name of the doctor who injects and two free times on Saturday. It sends a payment link for a deposit. She pays at 21:58. The other four clinics reply the next morning between 09:30 and 11:00 with 'Hello dear, when would you like to come?' She has already stopped reading.
Nothing about the four slower clinics was worse. Their doctors may be better. They lost on the only thing the client could compare at ten at night: who answered.
The numbers behind the Dubai filler market
Hyaluronic acid filler is the number one non-surgical procedure in the UAE. The ISAPS global survey for 2024 estimates 78,400 hyaluronic acid procedures performed by plastic surgeons in the country, 37.2% of all non-surgical work, ahead of botulinum toxin at 70,144. Worldwide, filler procedures reached 6.3 million, up 5.2% in a year and 56.4% since 2020. ISAPS only counts plastic surgeons, so the real market, including dermatologists and aesthetic physicians, is larger.
The clientele is unusually international. The same survey puts the share of UAE patients coming from abroad at a median of 30%, against 5% worldwide, with the UK, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon as the top origins. The Dubai Health Authority counted more than 691,000 health tourists in 2023, spending over AED 1.03 billion; dermatology was the second most requested specialty at 27% of them, and 58% of health tourists were women. Dubai also received 19.59 million international overnight visitors in 2025, with Western Europe, the GCC, South Asia and the CIS each sending 15% or more.
So the person asking about lips tonight may be writing from Riyadh, Manchester or Almaty, in her own language, on her own clock. And speed decides. Harvard Business Review's audit of 2,241 companies found that firms replying to a lead within an hour were nearly 7 times as likely to qualify it as those replying an hour later, and more than 60 times as likely as those waiting 24 hours. The average response time in that audit was 42 hours.
Where the enquiry dies: the five leaks
- The price question gets a question back. 'How much per ml?' is answered with 'When would you like to come, dear?' The client reads that as 'expensive' or 'they did not read my message' and moves on.
- The reply arrives the next morning. Filler research happens on the sofa after 9pm. By 9:30am the decision is made.
- The language does not match. She wrote in Arabic or Russian, the answer comes in English, and the conversation cools by a few degrees with every message.
- No slot is ever named. 'We have availability this week' is not an offer. 'Saturday 11:30 or 16:00 with Dr Sara' is.
- Nothing commits her. A verbal yes for Saturday costs her nothing, so when a friend recommends another clinic on Friday, your 11:30 sits empty and nobody tells you.
What one slow evening costs
Take a clinic with an illustrative price of AED 1,500 per ml. The figures below are an example, not a benchmark; put your own in.
| Per month | Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Filler enquiries on WhatsApp | 90 | |
| Arriving after 7pm or at the weekend | 50 | |
| Of those, booked elsewhere before your reply | 15 | |
| Would have booked with you (1 in 2) | 7 to 8 | About AED 11,000 |
| Booked but did not show (no deposit, no reminder) | 5 | AED 7,500 |
| Left on the table | About AED 18,500 per month |
A filler client is rarely a single visit. She returns for a top-up in six to twelve months, and she is the most likely person to ask about Botox, skin boosters or under-eye treatment next. The first chat you lose is a client's whole history you never get.

Speed cannot come at the cost of what the regulator expects. The DHA Standards for Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures (version 2.1, in force since February 2025) state that fillers and botulinum toxin may only be administered by a trained, privileged, licensed physician, are not permitted for cosmetic use under 18, and require written informed consent that is reconfirmed on the day. The DHA standard on medical advertising on social media bans guaranteed results and inaccurate prices.
In practice that gives you a simple rule for the chat: an assistant, human or AI, can quote your set price, name the doctor, explain how the appointment works, book and take a deposit. It must not promise a result, judge whether someone is a candidate, or answer 'is it safe if I am pregnant?' Those go to your medical team.
A reply that converts and stays inside the lines
'1 ml of lip filler is AED 1,500 with Dr Sara, a DHA-licensed dermatologist. The visit takes about 45 minutes and starts with a consultation, where she confirms the treatment is right for you. I have Saturday at 11:30 or 16:00. Shall I hold one for you?'
The same Thursday night, before and after
| Before | After | |
|---|---|---|
| 21:50 'how much per ml?' | Read at 09:30 on Friday | Answered at 21:51 with price, doctor and two slots |
| Arabic or Russian message | Answered in English | Answered in her language |
| Saturday 11:30 | Held on a verbal yes | Held on a paid deposit, released if unpaid |
| Day before the visit | Nothing sent | Reminder 24 hours and 1 hour before |
| 'Can I do it while breastfeeding?' | Receptionist guesses | Flagged and summarised for the doctor |
| Asked the price, went quiet | Forgotten | Visible in the inbox to follow up |
Why Arlay
Arlay is an AI booking agent that answers the WhatsApp number your clinic already uses and books appointments by itself. It was built for the 21:50 message above.
It replies within seconds in the language the client writes in, including Arabic, Russian and English. It quotes the per-ml price and duration you configured, and every reply is checked against your catalog before it is sent, so it never invents a price or an offer. It proposes real free slots from your Google Calendar, holds the one she chooses, sends a payment link or Stripe checkout for the deposit and confirms on payment. It reminds her the day before and an hour before. When a question is clinical, it says it will check with the team, flags the thread and summarises it for your doctor, who can take over in the same conversation and hand it back.

Start the 7-day trialFrequently asked questions
- Should a Dubai clinic give the lip filler price on WhatsApp?
- Yes, if the price is accurate. Clients send the same price question to several clinics and book with the first one that gives a clear answer. DHA advertising rules prohibit inaccurate prices, not prices. Quote your real per-ml price, say what it includes, and let the doctor confirm the quantity at the consultation.
- Can an AI assistant answer medical questions about fillers?
- It should not, and Arlay does not. It handles prices, availability, booking, deposits and reminders. Questions about suitability, pregnancy, medication or complications are flagged to your medical team with a summary, and a human answers in the same WhatsApp thread.
- How much deposit should a clinic take for a filler appointment?
- Most clinics that take one ask for a fixed amount or a percentage that is deducted from the treatment price. The amount matters less than the principle: a slot held on a payment is kept, a slot held on a promise often is not. In Arlay you set the deposit per business and the slot is released automatically if it is not paid within your window.
- Does it work with our existing WhatsApp number and Instagram ads?
- Yes. Arlay connects to your existing WhatsApp Business number through Meta's Cloud API or Twilio. Click-to-WhatsApp ads and the WhatsApp button on your Instagram profile open a chat with that same number, so those enquiries are answered instantly too.
